Bored? What's that?

I recently read a statement in a Parenting magazine that blew my mind. A woman had stated,"I'm a stay at home mom and stay bored all the time. Any suggestions on what I can do for fun?".
Ok, first of all, I don't know when this lady finds time to be bored. She must be one of those stay at home moms that has a live in nanny and house cleaner. And does she teach her kids ANYTHING? Beyond those apparent "activities" that keep you slammed, we at the Edwards house find LOTS of entertaining things to do. The past few days have been filled with fun adventures. To some, these so called "adventures" may seem mundane, but the laughter that fills the air and the smiles that radiate from my daughters' faces speak volumes as to the joy that these little outings produce.

We spent Saturday in Hendersonville with Gammie, Calahan, & Harper. We went to the Carl Sandburg home and played with the baby goats. The kids had a blast; the goats were probably glad to see us leave. Raylie kept trying to "ride" the poor babies.

On Sunday, we had torrential downpours. We promised the girls that they could play outside in the puddles after naps. Unfortunatley, all of the puddles had evaporated. Our neighbor, however, came to the rescue and pointed us toward a HUGE puddle. They spent at least an hour playing in the back of "Mr. Wobutt's" (Robert) truck, which held about 1 1/2 inches of water.

Yesterday, Adri came over for a pancake breakfast play date and then Raylie played dress up with items she discovered in her diaper bag.

And today, after a hike, I mean a walk, in our neighborhood, the girls "helped me" wash the car. Mary Addison LOVED it; Raylie kept getting soap in her eyes, so she wasn't a big fan. We finished up the day with an intense game of hide and seek. The winning hiding places go to:

1st place--Mary Addison- the bottom shelf of the linen closet, covered with blankets (which she did on her own)
2nd place-Ed & Raylie- on TOP of the computer armoire (this is a TALL piece of furniture, but Raylie kept laughing and gave them away)
3rd place--Me- INSIDE the computer armoire

Those are just a FEW of the things that fill our days. There are books to read, lessons to learn, outside play time, verses to memorize, DISCIPLINE, crafts to create, etc, etc, etc. How can ANYONE that has kids find time to be bored?
